Obama Is Going To Be It… Now What?
Posted by andrew wolf under Media Cowardice
Okay, folks, I am gonna take a slight risk and say Obama is going to be the nominee.
But this really isn’t a big risk. It will take a miracle for Clinton to pull this off. Sadly for Senator Clinton, that miracle, which would have been Florida and Michigan counting, is not going to happen. Although even then that “miracle” was only a chance of a miracle seeing as Obama could still have won those states. Her belief that she could replicate these victories by the same margin as when she was the only one running is delusional. Her hope was that winning those states would get her a delegate victory or at the least a popular vote victory and then convince the super duper delegates to fall in her basket…. it ain’t gonna happen.
So why is she staying in? I see 3-and-a-1/2 options:
1) She is a sore loser who lives in a state of denial and doesn’t care.
2) She is actually capable of convincing the super duper delegates to vote her way.
3) She knows something I don’t and will unleash some scary monster which runs on a gazillon butterfly ballot power engine that will spawn from the Florida everglades and consume us all.
3.5) I am wrong and counted badly… but again I doubt it because I am not the only one who counted this way.
Now clearly, I am not a full time reporter and can’t be the only one who sees this. In fact I am not. I have read it in numerous places. The issue that I see is that they will say she is done in a fancy pants article (like this one) but then treat her like she is still a competitor the rest of the time. It might be out of kindness, maybe out of respect, or fear, or election laws–but it’s dumb.
It is also bad for the Democrats. John McCain is one broke-ass politician. The GOP left him out to die and now he is their nominee. Hell, he might have to make Romney his VP just to get at his money. The Dems are swimming in the green stuff, but they are going to spend it all fighting each other until they are so weak that McCain, just like the tortoise in the children’s tale, crosses the finish line as the hare lays bloodied to a pulp picking his brains out in the background.
My point is this: media “fairness” is promoting a waste of time over a substantive debate between the two “men” who still actually have a chance at that grand old house on Pennsylvania Avenue.
